State attorneys general—they’re just like us!
New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, the state’s chief lawyer, apparently was on the receiving end of a piece of mail dreaded by most: a jury duty summons.
Schneiderman’s official Twitter account tweeted a photo of the attorney general entering a courthouse in Manhattan on Wednesday, where he was due to appear for his turn as a potential juror.
“I was proud to appear for #juryduty this morning in #NYC,” Schneiderman wrote on his Instagram photo. “Serving our #justice system is among a citizen’s highest civic responsibilities, and a true honor.”
There was no immediate word on how quickly Schneiderman—who represents the state in official law suits, including several in Manhattan Supreme Court—was dismissed. (UPDATE: Schneiderman’s office says he was there for “over an hour” before he was dismissed.)
