Celebrity billionaire Donald Trump is keeping the speculation going about his potential run for governor, and now he’s making his first political move.
Trump will be the featured guest at an Erie County Republican Committee event Jan. 31.
Trump said this week that he wants the state GOP unified if he’s going to run for governor against Gov. Andrew Cuomo. State GOP Chairman Ed Cox has resisted, and instead is touting Westchester County Executive Robert Astorino.
Now Trump is heading there. Cuomo has also given Buffalo his top attention, visiting frequently and committing $1 billion to its revitalization.
Cuomo lost Erie County in 2010 to hometown candidate Carl Paladino.
