Gov. Andrew Cuomo has a whopping $33.3 million in his campaign coffers as he prepares for his re-election bid in November, his campaign announced this afternoon.
He raised $7 million between July and January and spent $1.5 million.
The Democratic governor seeking a second term has the most campaign cash of any governor in the country, and his haul is aimed in part at scaring off any potential challengers.
So far, none have officially announced plans to run against him.
But Westchester County Robert Astorino said today he’s leaning toward running, and celebrity billionaire Donald Trump also is considering it.
Astorino has yet to say how much he has in the bank after winning re-election last fall, while Trump would obviously fund his own campaign.
