If a $20 scratch-off game wasn’t enough, New York has added a $25 instant lottery game.
It actually started distributing last week.
“Our newest New York Lottery scratch-off game offers players a higher cash jackpot prize of $7,500,000,” said Gardner Gurney, acting director of the Division of the Lottery. “We believe our current players and perhaps some new Lottery players will want to get in on the excitement of a chance to win such a spectacular, life-changing cash prize.”
Scratch-off games account for more than 50 percent of overall sales of New York Lottery games, or $3.7 billion last year.
But records obtained by Gannett’s Albany Bureau last week showed that overall lottery sales slowed in 2013.
For scratch-off games, sales were down nearly 1 percent, or nearly $34 million.
