Westchester County Executive Robert Astorino is considered a “Republican Rising Star” and will be feted at a GOP fundraiser Jan. 21 as he considers a run against Gov. Andrew Cuomo in November.
It’s the latest in a series of moves Astorino is making as he builds GOP support for a potential gubernatorial run.
The day of the event is also worth noting: It’s the day Cuomo will release his proposed 2014-15 budget.
“2013 was a great year for Republicans, as we swept all seven county executive races across New York, including the crucial Westchester County seat, where Republican Rob Astorino was reelected by 10 points despite a 2-1 Democratic registration advantage,” the state GOP said in a statement.
“Help us get 2014 off the the right start as we celebrate one of our Republican Rising Stars: join NYGOP Chair Ed Cox and Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino at the Fort Orange Club in Albany on January 21!”
