Sen. Greg Ball’s latest fundraiser: A trap shoot and dinner in Mahopac next month.
Ball’s campaign committee with be raising money at the Willow Wood Gun Club in the Putnam County hamlet on Nov. 16, according to an invite sent out by the state Republican Committee on Thursday.
The fundraiser is being hosted by a committee that includes Tom King, head of the state Rifle and Pistol Association, the group that has led the charge against the slate of gun-control laws passed in January known as the SAFE Act.
The Patterson Republican has been an outspoken critic of the SAFE Act. The invitation leaves little doubt where Ball stands on guns; sprayed across the top is a photo of what appears to be Ball—Air Force ballcap on head, ear protection dutifully in place—firing a
Ball, who is known as an effective fundraiser who spends heavily on his campaigns, does not have an announced opponent yet for 2014, when he and the 212 other state lawmakers are up for re-election. The fundraiser costs a minimum of $99 for dinner and $125 for a meal and the trap shoot.
