This is the last week to apply for the New York State Police Trooper exam. More than 26,000 people have already applied before the September 8th deadline.
The trooper exam will not offered again until 2017. A State Trooper’s salary begins at $50,374 during academy training and five years after graduation gradually increases to $84,739.
“I strongly encourage young people to apply for the exam,” Superintendent Joseph D’Amico said in a statement. “We are actively seeking qualified, committed and motivated candidates from all walks of life to take the trooper exam this fall.”
In an effort to make the process more user-friendly, for the first time applicants can use Paypal, Visa, or MasterCard for the application fee and the application can be downloaded to mobile devices to help reduce paper and mailing costs.
If accepted, job opportunities with the State Police include positions in Crime Scene Evidence Techs, K-9 Handlers, Field Training Officers, and several other units. The state didn’t say how many jobs are available.
