It didn’t take long for Donald Trump to bring up Chris Cuomo’s gubernatorial brother during a CNN interview Monday morning.
Trump, aggressively defending himself against a lawsuit filed Saturday by state Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, called the Democratic attorney general a “total lightweight.”
“You know that, I know that, your brother knows that,” Trump said, referring to the CNN anchor’s brother—Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
Chris Cuomo had little patience for Trump putting words in his mouth.
“Don’t get me in trouble,” Chris Cuomo said. “You can say anything you want about the AG, but that’s your opinion.”
Schneiderman sued Trump over the weekend, likening his “Trump University” educational seminars to a “bait-and-switch” scheme that repeatedly lied to the state Education Department about its credentials.
In a separate CNN appearance, Schneiderman said Trump is a “showman and he doesn’t seem to think there’s anything as a bad headline.”
“It was not a university. They never registered,” Schneiderman said. “They lied. Part of the charges are they lied to the state Department of Education repeatedly. They never got their teachers certified, as required by New York state law.”
Trump even raised the possibility that the lawsuit was discussed when Schneiderman spoke with President Obama in Syracuse on Thursday.
“The President and I have much more important stuff to talk about than Donald Trump,” Schneiderman said.
