Gov. Andrew Cuomo wants you to know: He’s not afraid of any mobile death rays in the back of small vans.
Cuomo was apparently one of the targets of a pair of Saratoga County men who concocted a bizarre plot to construct a van-mounted machine with the hope of silently killing them with an abundance of radiation, according to the New York Daily News. The strange scheme was busted up by the U.S. Attorney’s office earlier this week, though experts have said building such a machine would be highly improbable, if not impossible.
During an interview with public radio’s “The Capitol Pressroom,” Cuomo seemed to revel in the weirdness of it all.
“These extreme, right-wing nutsies think of everything!” Cuomo said, half-jokingly.
One of the men charged in the scheme—a Ku Klux Klan member who was also said to be targeting enemies of Israel—is a plaintiff in one of the lawsuits challenging the SAFE Act, the slate of gun laws passed in January and heralded by Cuomo.
“My brother Chris had the best answer this morning,” Cuomo said of his CNN anchor silbling. “He emails me, ‘Nazi death ray? Stay off my boat!’”
The Cuomo brothers are avid fishermen.
