The Senate’s four-member Independent Democratic Conference released an ad Tuesday pushing its “Working Women’s Agenda,” a package of bills that address issues women face in the workplace. It includes paid maternity leave and an expansion of child-care subsidies.
IDC Leader Jeffrey Klein, D-Bronx, said the package won’t compete with Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s women’s agenda, which is being stalled by a controversial abortion measure. Cuomo said he would support the IDC’s plan if it were in addition to his bill, not in lieu of it.
