Actor Stephen Baldwin pleaded guilty Friday to failing to pay state taxes after cutting a plea deal with the Rockland County district attorney’s office.
From LoHud’s Hema Easley:
Baldwin, 46, who lives in Upper Grandview, appeared in Rockland County Court Friday morning. The youngest of the four acting Baldwin brothers is accused of failing to file state income tax returns in 2008, 2009 and 2010.
Baldwin was ordered to pay a total of $400,000 in restitution, but because he had previously paid $100,000, Judge Charles Apotheker asked him to pay the remaining $300,000 in a year. The Rockland County District Attorney’s office waived interest payments, penalties and any kind of forfeiture as part of the agreement, said Baldwin’s attorney, Russell M. Yankwitt.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to rectify that,” Baldwin said outside the courtroom. “Today was my taking responsibility specifically for not having filed taxes. It has never been nor will it ever be my intention to not pay taxes.”
