Top fighters and officials from Ultimate Fighting Championship were in Albany on Wednesday to push state lawmakers on mixed martial arts. The state has a ban on professional MMA bouts, which UFC officials have been lobbying to overturn for several years.
The state Senate on Wednesday voted 47-14 in favor of overturning the ban, but the bill again faces an uncertain future in the Assembly. Gov. Andrew Cuomo, meanwhile, hasn’t taken a position on it.
