Dunder Mifflin ad to run in Utica, not Scranton

A northeastern Pennsylvania TV station will not run a commercial for the real-life Dunder Mifflin paper brand and instead the ad will run in Utica, the Associated Press reported.

Utica is home to the rival branch of the fictitious company on “The Office,” the NBC comedy set in Scranton, Pa.

Quill.com, which produces a line of paper products inspired by the show, planned to run the ad on WNEP-TV, the ABC affiliate, during Sunday’s Oscars telecast. But WNEP declined to air the spot, the Times-Tribune of Scranton reported. [1]

WNEP wouldn’t run the ad because “The Office” is on a rival network, Paul Bessinger, director of innovation for Lincolnshire, Ill.-based Quill, a division of Staples, told the paper.

The ad will air exclusively on the ABC affiliate in Utica.
