Sen. Hugh Farley, R-Schenectady, and Assemblyman Steve Englebright, D-Nassau County, have filed paperwork to start to collect their pensions and salaries in January.

[1]Gannett’s Albany Bureau first reported Nov. 16 [2]that Farley, 80, will in January collect a $104,500 salary and about a $52,000 pension. Englebright, 66, who was first elected in 1983, has also since filed his paperwork to collect his pension after being re-elected in November, according to the state Comptroller’s Office.

State law allows elected officials who were in office before 1995 to collect their pensions at age 65, even if they stay in the same job.

Six other members of the Legislature who either didn’t seek re-election or who lost their election have filed for retirement. They will get their pensions starting Jan. 1 when they leave the Legislature.

Here who has filed for their pensions and their years of service, according to the Comptroller’s Office. Their pension amounts have yet to be finalized, the Comptroller’s Office said.

Senator                 James Alesi, R-Perinton, Monroe County  22.95 years
