Has Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s support from young voters rebounded? A recent Siena College survey suggests so.
A few months back, we looked at Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s support among young voters, when an August Siena poll had found the 18-34 crowd was split on the first-term Democratic governor.
This week, Siena found the same age bracket with a much higher opinion of the governor, with 63 percent with a favorable opinion of Cuomo and 22 percent unfavorable.
It marks a 16-point swing since August for Cuomo’s favorability rating among young voters.
The 63 percent mark is still Cuomo’s lowest among the three age brackets identified by Siena. Those voters between the age of 35 and 54 gave Cuomo a 74 percent approval rating, while 77 percent of the 55-and-over folks gave the governor a thumbs up.
For comparison’s sake, Sen. Charles Schumer’s approval rating among the younger crowd stayed steady from August to December, falling a single point from 56 percent to 55 percent.
