On Dec. 2 a State Police trooper responded to a complaint in the town of Guilderland and was approached by a woman who presented him with a holiday card filled with cash, Gannett’s Haley Viccaro reports.

[1]Trooper Christopher Maniscalco did not know the card had $1,000 inside because he didn’t open it until after his shift. State Police are not allowed to accept cash gifts by law unless it is a donation—and now police want to find the woman and return the card or donate it.

A press release from the police said the woman told the trooper, “Trooper I always see you around, doing a good job and wanted to say Merry Christmas and thank you.”

The woman was described as in her early to mid 40’s, blonde hair, 5’8” and maybe driving a blue/gray minivan, police said.

Troop G in Latham are requesting people contact their office at 518-793-3211 with any information about the woman so they can direct her money to a specific donation.
