There were four $1 million Powerball tickets sold in New York last night—including two in the lower Hudson Valley.

[1]One ticket sold in Larchmont, Westchester County, and another in West Haverstraw, Rockland County, matched five of the six numbers to win $1 million, New York Lottery officials said, the Journal News reported [2]. The others were sold in the Bronx and on Commack, Long Island.

Another 54 tickets sold in New York state matched four numbers and will pay $10,000.

From the Journal News article:

The Larchmont $1 million winning ticket was purchased at The Corner Store, 1906 Palmer Ave. and the West Haverstraw ticket at Hess Mart, 30 Route 9W South. The winners will not be known until they come forward to claim their prizes.

Rakesh Patel, 42, of White Plains, who has owned The Corner Store for 12 years, said his friend texted him at about 8:15 a.m. that the store sold a winner.

“At first, I couldn’t believe it,” he said. “I’m so happy.” He doesn’t know who won, he said. He sold $7,000 in Powerball tickets Wednesday, with a consistent line of about 10 to 15 people, he said.

The Associated Press reported that two tickets sold in Arizona and Missouri matched all six numbers to win the record $587.5 million Powerball jackpot, the richest Powerball jackpot ever — and the second-largest top prize in U.S. lottery history.

The numbers drawn Wednesday night are 5, 16, 22, 23, 29. The Powerball is 6.
