Assemblymember Kevin Cahill, D-Kingston, Ulster County, announced today that FEMA is opening a Disaster Recovery Center on Tuesday in Kingston following Superstorm Sandy, Gannett’s Haley Viccaro reports.
Homeowners and business owners in Ulster County will have the opportunity to meet with FEMA representatives to discuss their needs after Sandy.
The center will be opened for a week from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Dec. 4 to Dec. 7 and located at the Hudson River Maritime Museum in Kingston.
“While the mid-Hudson region was able to avoid the harshest effects of Hurricane Sandy, there are still hundreds of citizens with flooded homes and basements, destroyed property or tree damage,” Cahill said in a statement.
Ulster County was recently declared a disaster area following Sandy, Cahill said. Homeowners can apply for assistance from FEMA by calling 1-800-621-3362 or online at http://www.DisasterAssistance.gov.
