Former state Comptroller Alan Hevesi is just looking to move on, his attorney said this morning.

[1]Bradley Simon, a New York City-based lawyer who represented Hevesi during his “pay to play” legal issues, said Hevesi is “very pleased to be going home to his family.” Hevesi was officially granted parole this morning [2] and will be released before Dec. 19.

“He served 19 months and has accepted responsibility for his actions,” Simon said via telephone. “He’s looking forward to moving on with his life.”

Hevesi was sentenced in April 2011 to a maximum of four years in state prison for his part in a “pay to play” scheme involving the state’s pension fund. He’s currently serving time in the Mid-State Correctional Facility in Oneida County, where he struck up a friendship with imprisoned rapper Ja Rule [3].

Simon said Hevesi doesn’t have any specific plans once he’s released.

“I think he’s just anxious to get home and spend time with the family,” Hevesi said. “That’s his first objective.”
