Meet the two newest members of the National Toy Hall of Fame: Star Wars action figures and Dominoes.

The latest inductees were unveiled Thursday in Rochester, where the hall of fame is located at The Strong children’s museum.

Star Wars action figures were introduced in the late 1970s. Their success spurred the industry to create more toys linked to movies, television series and comic books. The toys also were finalists in 2011.

Dominoes originated in China and later appeared in Europe. A standard set of 28 dominoes allows for many different games, as well as the creation of designs in which dominoes can be pushed over in a wave. It was a finalist in 2010.

The two favorites joined 49 others in the Hall of Fame, which began in 1998 with the induction of popular toys such as Barbie, Monopoly and the Teddy Bear.

Last year, the blanket, the dollhouse and Hot Wheels got the honor.

Among the unsuccessful finalists this year: little green army men, the Magic 8 ball, sidewalk chalk and the pogo stick.
