Senate Republicans have taken great steps to show their bi-partisan working relationship with popular Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo, and this new 30-second ad by Sen. Stephen Saland may take it to a new level.
The 30-second ad from Saland’s campaign shows Cuomo with Saland in six—that’s right six—different shots of the two of them together.
Then again, Saland is the first Republican that Cuomo is endorsing for re-election, so it has added significance. And the ad touts the endorsement. But it makes no mention of perhaps the top reason why Cuomo backed Saland—the Poughkeepsie Republican’s support of same-sex marriage last year.
Gannett’s Albany Bureau in August reported on how Senate Republicans, seeking to maintain their majority in November, have linked themselves to Cuomo.
Here’s the transcript:
Together Steve Saland and Governor Cuomo are achieving the bi-partisan results we deserve – like on-time state budgets that actually reduce spending, a property-tax cap and real income-tax relief for middle-class families, a growing economy and thousands of new jobs in the Hudson Valley. That’s why Governor Cuomo endorses Steve Saland, saying Steve is the type of colleague I need in Albany to help us to continue to build a new New York. Steve Saland, it’s about results.
