Assemblyman Sean Hanna, R-Mendon, Monroe County, is out today with his first ad of the campaign to fill an open Senate seat in Monroe and Ontario counties that will be one of the most competitive races in the state.
Hanna and Monroe County Legislator Ted O’Brien are vying to succeed Sen. James Alesi, R-Perinton, Monroe County, who is not seeking re-election.
The open seat in a moderate district, which runs through the eastern Monroe suburbs and into northern Ontario, will be a closely watched race that both Democrats and Republicans think they can win. Republicans hold a narrow 33-29 seat majority heading into the November elections.
The ad by Hanna, a freshman assemblyman and former county legislator, focuses on the accomplishments of the past two legislative session:
Assemblyman Sean Hanna stood up for middle-class families in our community. Sean Hanna worked with Republicans and Democrats, like Governor Cuomo, to protect hard working families and create jobs. Sean cut taxes on middle-class families to the lowest level in 58 years, capped property taxes and closed a $13 billion deficit by cutting spending, not raising taxes.Fighting for middle-class families, Sean Hanna for state Senate.
Hanna had $206,359 his campaign coffers last month. O’Brien had $98,985.
