Nik Wallenda will be in Niagara Falls to meet with state and local officials, as well as emergency personnel and the state Parks Office, according to a release from Sen. George Maziarz’s office.
“This meeting is an opportunity to discuss the logistical aspects of how Wallenda’s high wire walk could work,” Maziarz said in a statement. “This is a time to get questions answered and concerns addressed. I’m confident we can overcome any perceived difficulties with the walk by keeping an open dialogue and communicating our needs.”
The state Legislature passed a bill earlier this year that would authorize Wallenda, who comes from a family of daredevils, to attempt the stunt, which would be recorded and broadcast by the Discovery Channel.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo hasn’t given any indication whether or not he plans to sign it.
Wallenda will meet with Canadian officials on Thursday, according to Maziarz’s office.
