A NY1-Marist Poll last night found that 51 percent of New York City voters believe Rep. Anthony Weiner should not resign from Congress over the racy messages he sent to women.
Thirty percent think he should and 18 percent are unsure.
But New York City voters don’t want Weiner to run for New York City mayor in 2013, by a margin of 56 percent to 25 percent.
“All of this spells trouble for Congressman Weiner and his political future,” said Lee Miringoff, Marist pollster. “For voters, there are questions of judgment — never a winner for an office-holder.”
More than six in ten — 61 percent — believed his behavior was unethical but not illegal.
