Silver: A Few Bad Apples
Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, D-Manhattan, said today lawmakers were close to completing an ethics package.
“We are in a virtual agreement with the governor on ethics reform and I hope we can have a three-way bill,” Silver said. “I would hope our colleagues see the need for it.”
He also said corruption cases like the one that’s ensnared Sen. Carl Kruger, D-Brooklyn, and Assemblyman William Boyland, D-Brooklyn, give Legislature a black eye.
“There are a few bad apples and I think, not only I think, ultimately they get caught, violate the law and there is full prosecution and that’s what should take place here, and the fullest extent of the law should be nothing but that in these cases.”
