The donors, however, remain anonymous.
The committee, which began running ads this week in support of Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s tough budget plans, is a non-profit entity and is therefore exempt from revealing its funding sources. The group would register as a lobbying organization if advised to, however. Cuomo himself has said there is no coordination between his office and the committee.
The Democratic governor, according to this scoop by The Daily Politics, is already appealing for help in his expected battle with public worker unions over his likely cuts to Medicaid and education, the state’s two biggest expenses.
The board of directors is a lineup of people who served on Cuomo’s transition teams, including former Comptroller H. Carl McCall, Felix Rohatyn and Kenneth Adams of the Business Council.
