Former Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno arrived for his federal corruption trial this morning in Albany and said he will be found innocent.
“I’m doing great. Looking forward to this day,” he said in the video posted by Kyle Hughes of nysnys.com. “I’ve been looking forward for a long time to this day. I’ve done nothing wrong, and over the next several weeks that’s going to be proven.”
Jury selection was underway this morning as Bruno seeks to fight back charges that he accepted more than $3 million from people who had business before the state in exchange for his influence.
The trial, which is viewed as having a potentially wide-ranging impact on Albany politics, is expected to last as long as six weeks.
