Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani gave few clues last night as to whether he’ll run for governor next year, the Poughkeepsie Journal reports.
“I said after the election, and the elections aren’t over yet,” Giuliani said before a fundraiser for the Ulster County GOP at Hillside Manor in Kingston.
He also said he’s not keeping anyone else from entering the race.
“I’m not preventing anyone from getting in,” Giuliani said. “There’s still plenty of time.”
And he didn’t take much stock in the notion by Ulster County GOP chairman Mario Catalano that his appearance in Ulster County is a sign that he’s seriously thinking about running.
“Mario (Catalano, the Ulster County Republican chairman) talked me into it,” Giuliani said. “He’s a great persuader. I enjoy doing it, and I knew the Yankees wouldn’t be playing.”
