Robach Wins Re-Election

He may not be returning in the majority, but Sen. Joseph Robach, R-Greece, Monroe County, was able to beat back the Democratic tide nationally and in New York to beat Democratic challenger Richard Dollinger.
Considering Barack Obama’s big win in New York and nationally and some of his colleagues’ loses on Long Island and New York City, Robach’s win is that much more impressive.
Republican Sen. Serphin Maltese, for example, was crushed in a district with about 40,000 more Democrats than Republicans—about the same disparity as Robach’s district that covers most of the city of Rochester.
Yet despite more than $1 million put into the race by Dollinger and Democrats, Robach was up 52 percent to 48 percent with just one district left.
AP has called the race for Robach too.
