Bad Night For Responsible New York

Posted by: Joseph Spector - Posted in Uncategorized on Nov 05, 2008

Republicans may have had a bad night in New York, but so did Tom Golisano’s Responsible New York.

Yes, his PAC helped Buffalo Sen. William Stachowski win re-election by using some of Golisano’s $5 million on ads for him.

But Golisano’s influence in other western New York Senate races, in which he mainly backed Democrats, seemed minimal.

He ran ads for Democratic candidates Kathy Konst, David Nachbar, Richard Dollinger and Joe Mesi and each lost.

The PAC did back Democratic candidate Brian Foley, who beat Sen. Caesar Trunzo in Suffolk County, but there is no indication that Golisano put much money into that race.

While the PAC hasn’t disclosed where most of the $5 million Golisano put into it went, clearly the most went into western New York races closest to Golisano’s heart and home in Mendon, Monroe County.
