Paterson’s One Liners

March
14

Soon-to-be Gov. David Paterson likes to mix in sharp wit and one-liners into his speeches and interactions with reporters.

Here’s some of them from the past few days, even in the stressful times facing his new administration.
—As he received applause when he took the podium Thursday to address the media, he started the speech with, “Thank you. If most of you weren’t being paid I’d be flattered by that.”

-During his speech he said, “I am prepared, and on Monday at 1 p.m. I will have the oath of office administrated to me in the Assembly chamber - most of you are invited.”
—Then he was asked by a reporter whether he has ever patronized a prostitute. He paused and said, “Only the lobbyists.”
—This morning, when asked he might ever ditch his support of Hillary Clinton for the presidency, he said, “No. When I sign up to support a candidate, it’s to the end. I actually supported Custer, but I did leave right before the attack.”
—When asked what he hopes to accomplish during his “honeymoon” period with the Legislature, he responded: “That it lasts.”
