Democratic Enrollment Up In New York

February
1

If Republicans weren’t already at an enrollment disadvantage in New York, here’s some more bad news: Democrats increased their enrollment by nearly 70,000 since November, according to new statistics today from the state Board of Elections.

In advance of Tuesday’s primary, 69,632 voters registered as new Democrats, compared to just 3,122 new Republicans since November.

That brings the total number of Democrats in New York to 5,405,873 compared to 3,000,630 Republicans. The state also has about 2.4 million voters not registered in a party; they can’t vote in
Tuesday’s primary.

Overall, the number of registered voters in New York rose by about 88,000—to 11.3 million in total.
