Yep, the state financial outlook is bleak

Apparently Gov. Eliot Spitzer wasn’t kidding when he said the state is looking over the edge of a deep financial hole.

  Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli today confirmed Spitzer’s revenue and spending projections for next year, leaving the state looking at a potential deficit of more than $4 billion.

  And with the governor already promising a big hike in school aid next year and no tax increases, hospitals and other health-care providers are bracing for a proposed cut in health-care spending – the largest target for budget-cutters.
