At a news conference he is holding this morning, Gov. Eliot Spitzer will defend his recent decisions to allow illegal immigrants to obtain driver’s licenses and to sue the Bush administration (along with six other states) for blocking an expansion of the federal-state children’s health insurance program in New York.
The governor took some heat yesterday from the state chairman of the Conservative Party, who said, “The safety of America is at stake” because of Spitzer’s policy change.
Most counties didn’t take the state up on its offer to swap future sales tax revenue to pay for Medicaid costs. Monroe County is the only one participating.
The U.S. Supreme Court refused to consider overturning a state law that requires employers, including religious institutions, provide insurance coverage for contraceptives.
Lawmakers are proposing a bill that would create sales-tax free downtown business districts across upstate New York.

Spitzer is a phony selfrightoues Hyprocrite. He’s sueing the Federal Government for health Insurnace not for American Born New Yorks or Legal Naturalized (people who have legally immigranted) New York American citzens. He’s sueing the fedral Government to get the Federal Government to pay for his beloved illegal Aliens.And for people who make $80,000 a year. People who don’t deserve or need it.
What we got here is Governor that willing to fight for the rights and (even though the have none. They are not American Citzens or even legal residents) free ride and for law breaking arrogant illegal Aliens. Spitzer has no respect or concern for the rights for the law or for the law abiding American born, naturalized, or legal resident. Driving license for illegal aliens.
What a phony self righteous hypocrite our arrogant lying governor is.
But for the time being, we legal New Yorkers are the law abiding suckers that are filpping the bill.
